24K, 18K or 14K Gold

Pure gold is notated as 24K – this is the highest karat level for gold meaning it is 100% pure gold.

18K gold is 75% purity level, 14K is 58.3% purity level, and 10K is 41.7% purity level. As you can see, the higher the karat number, the more pure gold comprises the metal.

18K GOLD:
It's composed of 75% gold and 25% alloy. Appearance: 18k gold is slightly brighter than 14k gold. When you think of gold, the 18k hue is probably what you imagine.
18K comparing with 24k as it is less likely to be damaged when worn as jewelry.

18K solid gold pieces are made to last forever. Solid 18K gold jewelry is the most expensive and high quality option as it doesn't rub off or flake, and doesn't tarnish. Gold actually increases in value over time, and solid gold jewelry has the best resale value.

Acid testing is a great way to test 18k gold. To determine if your 18- karat gold is real, simply place your gold piece of jewelry in nitric acid and observe its reaction. If a green reaction occurs, it is a metal of a lower karat content. No reaction indicates that your jewelry is 18- karat gold or higher.
